Spirituality– The quality of being concerned with the human spirit opposed to material things!
Being exposed to multiple beliefs and practices from young, I can say it was only natural I’d put thought into helping translate the benefits to those that may not see them.
Whether friends, family, or even someone we find conversation with. Finding people absorbed in the conundrum of every-day life to the point of it being hard to believe in anything beyond is totally common. Understandable as well.
Life is an ongoing process that stops for nobody regardless of sickness or emotional weight. No matter how hard we try to make it slow down for us or find all of the answers, we could never.
Naturally for ourselves or the ones we love and care for, an idea like this can be quite daunting. Scary enough to lead you to retaliate with ignorance or an overcompensation to ideas that wear you out.
In this way, we cling to what we know, limiting ourselves to the amount we possibly could with three simple words, “I don’t know.”
Now, this is exactly what spirituality is to me. The endless unknowing. That which cannot be explained in full using words alone, or any other human medium for that matter.
I’ll give you a second to take that in… Sounds a lot like reality, right? Right!
To me, they show themselves to be one in the same. The exact same thing.
What I’ve noticed in my experience is that many times, our perception of reality really isn’t reality at all. We’re moving through it, but in a box built by our own fears and stories.
When we see reality as something beyond all expectations or doubts. Only then are we touching the tip of the iceberg that is spirituality.
It’s just like Robert Greene wrote in the Laws of Human Nature, “Rationality is the ability to recognize irrationality.”
We are imperfect beings at best and have the opportunity to live life aiming to progress however we choose.
This is beauty. This is spirituality. We go through so much that we link the word ,’reality‘ with ‘ugly‘.
To push past this perspective and to sweat and bleed and still be able to crack a smile. To sit down in the midst of your worst worries and think of all the reasons you have to be thankful. This is spirituality. This is life. Some may call it prayer though.
At this point, you must be coming to understand.
Have a great day, and don’t forget to comment thoughts and share with a friend that may not give light to the spiritual side of things.
